Staff participation at the Convocation Ceremony

The purpose of the Convocation Ceremony is to welcome all first year students to the University of Otago.

Students will be addressed briefly by the Mayor of Dunedin, the President of the Otago University Students' Association, the Vice-Chancellor, and a guest speaker.

In 2018 the Convocation Ceremony will be held on Monday 19 February at Forsyth Barr Stadium, commencing at 7:30pm.


Academic staff registration

Academic staff will be able to register their attendance via their eVision portal to be seated on the stage at Forsyth Barr Stadium during the Convocation Ceremony.

Academic regalia is required to be worn during the Convocation, you can order this when indicating your attendance.

Please register your attendance within the time-frame below.


Registrations open for 2018 Tuesday 6 February
Registrations close for 2018 Sunday 18 February

Academic staff attendance

Academic staff need to arrive at the marshalling area within the Forsyth Barr Stadium by 7:00pm. 

Entrance to the marshalling area is via Gate J, from 6:30pm (refer to Stadium entrances map below).  Staff will be on hand to direct you.

Academic staff need to be robed by 7:10pm.

General staff attendance

General staff are invited to attend the Convocation ceremony and be seated within the designated area of the Mitre 10 Stand within the Stadium.

While you do not need a ticket for this ceremony, you will need to bring your staff ID with you.

Please be at the Stadium by 7:00pm, enter via Gate A from 6:30pm (refer to Stadium entrances map above).  Staff will be on hand to direct you.

General staff need to be seated by 7:20pm.

Parking for staff

Parking will be available in the University of Otago Park n Ride and the Otago Polytechnic Park n Ride areas on the East side of the Stadium.

Parking will be free from 6:30pm until 10:00pm on the night of the Convocation Ceremony.  A fine will be incurred outside of this time-frame.

Refreshments

Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the ceremony (approximately 8:30pm) in the University Plaza, located alongside the Stadium.


Academic regalia

Hiring regalia

Academic staff wanting to hire regalia from the Federation of Graduate Women to wear at a Convocation Ceremony, need to submit an order via their eVision staff portal. The Graduation Office will then be charged for the hire.

General staff who wish to hire regalia can contact the Graduation Office via email to arrange this.

Collecting regalia

Collect your regalia from the Academic Dress rooms located in the Basement of the Geology Building (North End).

Regalia can be collected as follows:

Monday 19 February
11:00am - 2:00pm


Returning regalia

Regalia must be returned at one of the following times and venues:

Monday 19 February Forsyth Barr Stadium 8:30pm - 9:00pm
Wednesday 21 February Basement of the Geology Building 12 noon - 2:00pm
