Information

The Active Living Laboratory at the University of Otago (www.otago.ac.nz/active-living) calls for expressions of interest in PhD scholarships for working on the Built Environment and Active Transport to School: BEATS Study (www.otago.ac.nz/beats).

This multidisciplinary and multi-sector study spans the fields of exercise sciences, health, transportation, built environment and education. PhD students will be working with the BEATS team on a natural experiment to examine the effects of the built environment changes on active transport to school in Dunedin adolescents.

Applicants must be:

  • Holding or being in the process of obtaining a Master’s degree
  • Seeking to obtain their doctoral qualification
  • Have a background and interest in physical activity, public health, transport and/or built environment
