The University, City & Region
Norwegian School of Economics
The Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) is Norway's leading teaching and research institution in the fields of economics and business administration. It is an integral part of the Norwegian university system, where academic quality, relevance and integrity, as well as the ability to serve a critical purpose in society, are major values.
NHH is situated on a low hill, five minutes north of the centre of Bergen, with a magnificent view of the fjord and the seaway entrance to Bergen. Its location also provides great opportunities for hiking and skiing in the surrounding mountains during winter. In summer you can go swimming in the sea or in the lakes, both of which are just a few minutes from the university campus.
The City of Bergen
Bergen, founded in 1070, is Norway's second largest city and is beautifully located between seven mountains. It is the gateway to the fjords and as such has become one of Europe's busiest cruise ship ports. Bergen is a charming city with a relaxed atmosphere, old-fashioned North European architecture, cobblestone streets, an outdoor fish market and a Hanseatic harbour area (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
The 30,000 students at NHH and the University of Bergen certainly influence the city's nightlife. The students have their own gathering places and organise a variety of activities throughout the year. As a student in Bergen you are in for a great experience.
