Allen Hall Theatre (the home of Theatre Studies) is:
The hub of the University of Otago's theatrical performance
work
Located in the beautiful bluestone buildings of the old
university complex (see map), next to
Marama Hall, the Music Department's performance venue
A fully equipped theatre which also houses teaching space,
rehearsal rooms and staff offices
The site of literally thousands of performances from full-length
plays to Lunchtime Theatre performances to laboratory work
created in a workshop or class situation
Historically, the former student union building; Sir Laurence
Olivier visited and spoke in Allen Hall in 1948, with students
hanging out the windows and from the rafters to listen to
him.
