One step closer
We know our residents are moving ahead in their lives as they continue maturing. Our goal is to guide and support them as they make choices about their study, their ambitions and their future careers.
At Toroa, residents have the opportunity to identify their academic goals and to work towards them. They learn to take responsibility for their actions and to understand the actions of others.
Developing life skills
Cooking skills
With the choice of being on a meal plan or preparing meals for themselves our residents learn to balance their studies with tasks they will have to complete once they are in a private flat.
Living agreement for each unit
We work closely with each unit to prepare a living agreement. Staff help residents learn to communicate about the little things in life (noise, mess, visitors) that can become issues when living with others.
A place for you to belong and succeed
It’s important to feel connected, to feel a sense of belonging, and a sense of who you are if you are to succeed.
As a small friendly college staff and residents are able to interact with each other in a purposeful manner. Toroa is a place of possibility and potential.
Toroa has all the quality and support you would expect from a University of Otago residential college. However, Toroa is more than just a college, for residents it’s one step closer to their future.
