Academic Life at Toroa College

The basis of study at Toroa College

All disciplines of study at the University of Otago require active learning and critical thinking. At Toroa, our staff and our resources actively help you identify your needs as you further develop these skills.   Studying in tutorial room

Academic goals

To be successful you have to identify your goals. It’s easy to do, and our staff are here to help you make a plan and prepare for the year ahead.

Your goals, your plans, your success – you can develop them all at Toroa, in a community that is relaxed and supportive.

Academic performance

Your academic performance is very important to us and we offer an academic support programme built around residents’ needs in any given year.

We work closely with the University's Student Learning Centre (SLC) to ensure that the programmes we deliver offer you the best chance of achieving your academic goals.

We support our residents to:
• Establish study groups
• Plan academic work loads
• Engage with academic resources on campus
