Dining

DiningUniversity College has a modern, vibrant dining room "Refectory", designed to cater for the extensive needs of the residents. The facility and the menus are regarded as some of the best in halls and colleges throughout New Zealand.

Meals are the focal point of UniCol life, a time when everyone gathers together. A reasonable standard of dress and behaviour is expected at all times in the Refectory.

The Refectory is open for three meals daily, seven days a week. Packed lunches may be arranged if you are unable to return to the College at midday, and late dinners are available if you have evening lectures, labs or sports practices.

During the three weeks before each examination period the Refectory is also open for supper and quiet study late in the evening.

Vegetarian meals are available. If you are a vegetarian or have special dietary requirements you must complete the health and dietary form and forward this to the College prior to your arrival.

Formal dinners are held on several evenings during the year. Residents are expected to dress appropriately for dinner. Make sure you have one good outfit when you pack your bags. Special guest speakers and other guests are invited, and these dinners are always very popular with students. Previous speakers, including the Prime Minister have been very entertaining.

UniCol also runs the very popular Detour Café in the Commons. This facility is open each evening from 7:00 – 11:00 selling a range of items including specialty coffee, hot food, snack food and basic supplies.

"I love being here! Amazing place to spend your first year!"
