Study and Computing Facilities
University College has excellent study facilities for residents. Three seminar rooms are used for evening tutorials and are available at other times for quiet study or group work. The University College Library is a pleasant modern study space with five computers, a network printer, reference books, fiction books and magazines. Comfortable study tables and furniture make this a popular space for residents.
The Reading Room has approximately 15 computers available to residents as well as a network printer. All UniCol computers are linked to the University's network and have high-speed Internet access. Use of the computer facilities is free for UniCol students.
UniCol maintains a wireless hotspot connected to the University system in the administration and common areas of the College. This includes the Reading Room, seminar rooms, Library, main common room, Refectory, foyer and boardroom. Students with a correctly configured laptop computer are able to access the University's network at any time in any of these areas. Approximately 90% of student bedrooms are able to receive a University of Otago wireless Internet connection. The additional 10% of rooms have a wired LAN port.
I am generally very happy with University College as my hall of residence. All of the factors I considered when applying for my hall have been met. "
