This Bridging mathematics Programme is NOT intended for students with recent, successful study in mathematics.

Duration of Course

Four hours per week for 5 weeks before the commencement of the full academic year Foundation Year programme.

Syllabus

The syllabus is divided into 5 topic areas, presented as 20 teaching tutorials with a depth of treatment similar to that in NZ high school years 11 and 12 mathematics courses. There is an emphasis on acquiring an appropriate English mathematics vocabulary that will include the use of key word lists/glossaries for all topics.

Assessment

The overall grade awarded to a student will be calculated according to the following component weightings:

2 class tests, with at least 1 week's notice

20%

Final 1 hour exam on all units

80%
