Do you want to communicate with people from other countries? General English gives you the English language preparation to achieve this.
The course uses communicative English language teaching. You will learn these skills:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
- Vocabulary development
- Pronunciation
- Fluency practice
- Conversation skills
- Practice and extension of grammatical structures.
What levels do we offer?
We offer 5 levels of General English tuition:
- Elementary
- Pre Intermediate
- Intermediate
- Upper Intermediate
- Advanced
Options classes include:
- Test skills (Elementary and Pre-Intermediate levels)
- IELTS preparation (Intermediate to Advanced levels)
- EIC (English for International Communication) with TOEIC preparation (Intermediate to Advanced levels)
You can study at the Language Centre for a minimum of 4 weeks. View our dates and fees page for information on Language Centre terms and fees.
Other courses include:
- EAP (English for Academic Purposes - Spring Term only)
- English for Otago Undergraduate and Postgraduate
If you are an Intermediate, Upper intermediate or Advanced level student at the Language Centre, you can move to the Foundation Year Bridging Course or to Foundation Year through our non IELTS pathways or by achieving the required IELTS level.
