Professor Michael Baker calls on the NZ Government to send health workers to Ebola-affected areas of West Africa as part of a WHO effort.

"Where I think we're not performing well at all is our level of support for control measures in West Africa," Baker said.

"It's much more efficient to be controlling it there, than for all countries on the planet to be shutting down airline travel routes and other things.

"Even Ethiopia is sending 200 doctors, Cuba is sending plane loads of doctors. There's hundreds of support staff from the UK and the US - where is New Zealand?"
