Laboratory overview
The department houses a variety of equipment for biological analyses. In particular, we have specialised equipment and resources for histology and genomics. We undertake biomedical research and use shared facilities as part of COL(LAB).

Histology
The histology laboratory undertakes a range of histological techniques including:
- Tissue fixation, processing and sectioning
- Standard H&E staining
- Special stains
- Immunohistochemistry
- Cryotomy
- Microscopy
The department can provide histological services to internal (University of Otago, Wellington) clients only.

Genomics
In our laboratories we use several technologies to measure epigenetic changes to support our research projects (LINK).
Pathology museum
The Pathology museum currently houses an invaluable collection of specimens demonstrating the workings of the human body and disease. It is an essential tool for the training of medical students and health professionals.
