Please read these guidelines carefully before completing your registration form

Welcome to the 150th anniversary of the University of Otago! We are delighted you are coming to join us and hope you will enjoy our 150th programme of celebrations. We have a wide range of events planned and the weekend has been designed so you can choose which ever options appeal to you. Please register early as some events are limited (due to capacity) and we will be processing registrations on a first-in-first served basis.

University of Otago Staff Club

The University of Otago Staff Club located on campus; 56 Leith Walk, will be open for morning and afternoon tea, lunch and coffee over the weekend. On Friday night the Staff Club also operate a full bar service with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and hot drinks available for purchase.

In addition to this, there will Devonshire teas served on Saturday and Sunday. Bookings are essential. Please email staff.club@otago.ac.nz to book.

Queen's Birthday Weekend Staff Club hours:

Digital Information

Campus Wi-Fi

While visiting the University of Otago campus you are welcome to use the free visitor Wi-Fi. Select the network UO_Guest to create your personal log in, valid for the Queen’s Birthday Weekend up to 500mb a day.

150th Mobile App - My Little Local

This is Dunedin’s local app, and can be used while you are visiting our city for accommodation, transport, retail and sightseeing information. We will be using a dedicated button (visible by the 150th ribbon logo) to display the event programme and for notifications regarding unforeseen events e.g. weather, road closures. This can be downloaded free from your app store or google play.

University Bookshop

The University Bookshop (located 378 Great King St) is often referred to as a book lover’s paradise and will be open on Saturday and Sunday 1st and 2nd of June 10.00am - 4.00pm. Browse their excellent selection or pick up a copy of the commemorative book ‘Otago, 150 years of New Zealand’s First University’.

Otago, 150 Years of New Zealand’s First University

The recently published history “Otago, 150 Years of New Zealand’s First University” was researched and written by Dr Ali Clarke, and is full of fascinating stories from our first 150 years. This can be purchased on the registration form and can be collected at the University Bookshop.

All costs are in NZ Dollars and are inclusive of a 15% Goods and Service Tax (GST).

Cancellation

If events or activities are cancelled or postponed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, announcements will be broadcasted on My Little Local app, MoreFM 97.4, The Breeze 98.2 and the University of Otago’s Facebook page.

For cancellations on the day, please call 03 479 5927 and listen to the recorded voicemail message for updates.

Sustainability

The University of Otago aims to celebrate 150 years of excellence with minimal environmental harm. When booking your flights please consider off-setting your carbon emissions and where possible, make the conscious decision to walk, cycle or take a bus when navigating our beautiful city. Mobility and special requirements

Please let us know at the point of registration if you have any mobility requirements or special provisions. You can update us regarding the above at any time, via 150.registrations@otago.ac.nz.

Registration Information

Confirmation of registration

  1. Once you submit your registration you should receive a confirmation message on your computer screen. Registration is not complete until full payment has been processed and you have been notified.
  2. Following this, you will receive a confirmation of attendance. This may take up to 5-7 working days depending on your method of payment.
    • Credit card payments: immediate notification will be sent.
    • Direct debit/internet banking: This can take up to 5 working days to process, before you receive your notification.
    • Cheque: Please contact us to arrange payments via cheque.
  3. Once you have been notified your payment has been processed, registration is complete.
  4. All costs are in NZ Dollars and are inclusive of a 15% Goods and Service Tax (GST).

Cancellation and refund policy

The University reserves the right to cancel an event due to insufficient attendance or other unforeseen circumstances, in such cases fees will be refunded in full.

Cancellation of registration up until 31st March 2019 will result in a full refund except for an administration fee of $50.00. After 31st March 2019, no refund will be applied.

Privacy statement

The Development & Alumni Relations Office, on behalf of the University of Otago, is the legal owner of the 150th Celebrations register.

The Development & Alumni Relations Office will comply with the Privacy Act 1993 in the collection, storage, use and disclosure of personal information. Personal information held within the 150th Celebrations register will only be accessed and used for legitimate University purposes in accordance with the University's policy on access to, and use of, personal information.

Disclaimer

In the event of unforeseen circumstances (weather or otherwise) that disrupt the events planned, the 150th event organisers accept no responsibility.

The information on the 150th Celebration website and in the printed material is correct at the time of publication. However, the anniversary organisers reserve the right to change information if required and to adjust the programme accordingly.
