The Australasian Victorian Studies Association (AVSA) will offer two travel grants that will provide $1000 for scholars to attend the conference and present a paper.
Grants will be available to scholars in the following categories:
- Students currently enrolled in a postgraduate research degree at a university
- Scholars without institutional funding (SWIF), e.g. retired or unwaged academics, sessional tutors, PhD students awaiting examination, postdoctoral researchers
Criteria
Postgraduates
- Not eligible in first year of postgraduate study
- Not eligible if they have access to funding from their university
- Not eligible if they have had a previous AVSA conference travel grant
- Brief letter/email of support from supervisor required (to provide evidence of student’s progress and confirm that funding not available)
- One-page CV required
- High quality abstract, relevant to the conference theme
SWIF
- Must be ineligible for conference funding from an institution, e.g. retired, unwaged, sessional tutors, PhD students awaiting confirmation of degree
- One-page CV, including referees and previous conference participation, required
- High quality abstract, relevant to the conference theme
Applications
Applications comprising an abstract, one-page CV, and (for postgraduate applicants) a letter of support from supervisor should be submitted via email by 30 May 2018.
