SUMMARY:Exploring moral life in the anthropocene - Susan Wardell
DESCRIPTION:
This seminar is based on Dr Wardell's research around environmental grief, hope, and the discourse of 'hopium' among environmental doomers.
However, the dilemmas it describes – at the intersection of the philosophical, practical, and moral – will feel familiar to most people living with awareness of the (present and anticipated) changes of the anthropocence. Highlighting the temporality of ethical decision making, the seminar focuses in on decisions about having and raising children as bringing these questions – about how to live, and how to live well, in a time of change and loss – into sharpest relief.
