SUMMARY:Tracking it down: How we found New Zealand’s tenth meteorite
DESCRIPTION:On 13 March 2024, Fireballs Aotearoa detected New Zealand’s tenth meteorite as it descended to Earth’s surface while lighting up the South Island sky as a bright fireball. Eight days later its trajectory was calculated, a public search was planned, and only 20 minutes into the search a fragment of the fireball was collected just south of Lake Tekapo. Come and learn about New Zealand's tenth meteorite and the citizen science meteorite camera network that made its recovery possible. The meteorite and example cameras will be on display.
