SUMMARY:Teaching languages online: Innovations and challenges of remote language-learning in an increasingly hybrid world
DESCRIPTION:Language teaching masterclassClassics Programme Dr Giovanni Piccolo has worked as a Latin teacher in the Victorian secondary school system for over a decade, teaching in person in mainstream schools and currently online at the Distance Education department of the Victorian School of Languages. Since 2024, Giovanni has been a Teaching Fellow with the Classics Programme at the University of Otago and has developed and delivered the distance versions of our Latin and Greek papers for Classics students at VUW and other New Zealand institutions. In this workshop, Giovanni will talk about his experience in building an asynchronous language curriculum, planning for online assessments, and using different learning management systems.
