DESCRIPTION:Join Dr Emma Beckett (Australian Catholic University) and Professor Katherine Black (University of Otago) to explore why nutrition misinformation is so pervasive, how scientific evidence is frequently misunderstood or misrepresented, and why certain health messages gain traction despite limited scientific support. Drawing on their expertise in nutrition science, public health, sports nutrition, and women’s health, they will examine some of the most common nutrition claims circulating on social media and separate evidence from hype. This engaging lecture will help the audience to distinguish credible nutrition advice from misleading claims.
