Active Living Laboratory currently does not have available research scholarships for 2021

Although we do not have scholarships available for 2021, prospective PhD students interested in working on the Built Environment and Active Transport to School: BEATS Research Programme are welcome to inquire about working with our team. BEATS is multidisciplinary and multi-sector research programme spans the fields of exercise sciences, health, transportation, built environment and education. PhD students will be working with the BEATS research team on a natural experiment to examine the effects of the built environment changes on active transport to school in Dunedin adolescents.

Prospective PhD students must be:

  • High achieving and self-motivated individuals
  • Holding or being in the process of obtaining a Master's degree
  • Seeking to obtain their doctoral qualification
  • Have a background and interest in physical activity, public health, transport and/or built environment.

Prospective applicants should email their cover letter, CV, academic transcripts, Master's thesis (if available) and names of at least two academic referees to Associate Professor Sandy Mandic.
