Terms of reference
- To facilitate the process by which appointments of members to the Council are made, including by:
- considering any processes and recommendations which may facilitate the provision of advice to the Minister of Education as part of consultation on Ministerial appointments
- approving any information to be published regarding any vacancy on Council, including any statement of the considerations which may be particularly relevant to the Council in filling that vacancy
- considering and making enquiries into the nominations and expressions of interest received following the notification of a vacancy
- interviewing, if it thinks fit, some or all of the those being considered for appointment or nomination to the Minister of Education
- providing a confidential report to the Council on the outcome of its enquiries
Constitution
- Three to four lay members of the Council, normally including the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor
- No member of Council whose term is due to complete in a given year, and who is eligible for reappointment, shall be appointed to the Committee in that year
- The Chancellor, or in their absence, the Pro-Chancellor, shall chair the Committee

Meeting dates
Meetings of the Council Nominations Committee are scheduled as required.
