The free-est half decade of your life
Speaker, alumnus David Kirk entertained guests with the thought that our university years are the free-est time of our lives while highlighting the experiences that helped him find and define his ‘authentic self’.
Guests who attended the 2019 Sydney alumni event held at the University and Schools Club in central Sydney on Tuesday 7 May all found something in his speech that reminded them of their own time at university.
Whether it was the different people you met at university, the numerous firsts encountered, or the unique experiences known only to you, David triggered memories for all our guests with humour and nostalgia.
The current and future were also featured when the University’s Chancellor, Dr Royden Somerville QC and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Harlene Hayne spoke about the current developments at the University and thanked everyone for joining to celebrate 150 years of daring to be wise.
With memories of Otago glowing guests shared stories of the freedom they encountered and the impact it had on their future selves.
