1960s graduates of the School of Mines
The plan is to base ourselves at The Junction Hotel, Thames.
Assuming there will be about 30 in the party, they will provide hospitality, meals (including a ‘formal’ dinner on Saturday evening). They may not be able to accommodate all of us but there is plentiful motel accommodation nearby.
The Waihi gold mine is looking forward to our visit on Saturday morning. (Google ‘Oceana Gold Mine, Waihi’)
- Driving Creek Railway, Coromandel
- Stamper Battery, Coromandel
- Thames School of Mines, NZ
We will contact these people to ensure they will be able to cope with our party on Sunday.
Our numbers will probably justify chartering a bus (or mini-buses) for the weekend. However, behaviour on the bus must not emulate that of undergraduates on a football trip to Christchurch.
We will also have to consider how to transport people to and from Auckland Airport. This can be left until people have made their travel arrangements. It is not clear from email addresses where people reside, and so an early indication of where the NZ residents live and how they expect to travel would be helpful.
