Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne's leaving picnic

An informal celebration was held on the Clocktower lawn on Friday 12 March to mark the completion of Professor Harlene Hayne's term as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Otago. You can read Professor Hayne's farewell speech that she gave at an Auckland alumni event on Thursday 4 February.

Auckland Dental Facility opening

The University of Otago, Auckland Dental Facility – which Professor Hayne officially opened on 4 February after a soft launch last year – had 11 students in 2020 and is progressing with 29 this year then to full capacity with almost 50 in 2022, which will be half the Faculty of Dentistry's final- year students and the facility's limit, Professor Hayne says. Highlanders Coaches' Breakfast

Alumni and guests were treated to a pre-game insight at the Coaches' Breakfast held on the 26 February at the Otago Business School. The breakfast was held on the morning of the Highlanders vs Crusaders game; the first game of the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season.
