Invercargill alumni event 2019

Friday 19 July 2019 2:34pm

The University of Otago’s Invercargill alumni function was held in the vibrant library at the University’s Southland campus, and was an occasion to celebrate the link between the University and its alumni.

Guests were warmly welcomed to the campus by Parker Ormond, Senior Lecturer and Jill Paris, Principal Lecturer and who both spoke about the important relationship between the campus and the Southland community.

Pro-Chancellor Stephen Higgs provided an update of current developments at the University and highlighted changes on campus. While many exciting projects had been completed, many more that would enhance Otago’s research and teaching capabilities were in the offing. He also outlined Otago’s steady increase in teaching and research outputs.

We were pleased to be able to have Highlanders Matt Faddes, Tavita Nabura, and Richard Buckman attend our event and giving alumni the opportunity to speak with them about this year’s season.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity for alumni to share memories and stories of time spent at Otago and possibly make plans for a return.
