In her latest 150th blog Dr Ali Clarke details the rise of English at Otago, from its beginnings in 1871 when Professor George Sale lectured to 22 students through to the present day, when several hundred students cover a curriculum which covers topics ranging from Chaucer and Shakespeare to contemporary New Zealand fiction and "Tartan Noir; Scottish Crime Fiction".
