Graduation ceremonies are often a family affair, and this was certainly the case last December for 1959 dentistry alumnus Manilal Jogia.

Manilal, who lives in Hamilton, sent Alumni and Friends an image (above), which shows his family's tradition of studying at, and graduating from, Otago now spans three generations.

“I attended the [December] graduation ceremony for my granddaughter Divya who graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours. I graduated with my BDS in 1959 and my son Rakesh graduated BDS in 1987 – three generations, all educated at the same university, a fact that we are very proud of.”

The Development and Alumni Office is equally proud to help many graduands and their whānau celebrate these special days each year. We host the Alumni Graduation Brunch for graduands before they process through Dunedin’s city centre and graduate at the Dunedin Town Hall.
