The Terminal Club in Vancouver provided a grand setting for our alumni and friends to gather and was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the University’s 150th anniversary. It has been a number of years since we gathered in Vancouver, but Vancouver-based alumni quickly found things in common with each other and enjoyed the opportunity to share stories and memories of time spent at Otago.
Many stories shared common threads of life-long friendships made, personal development, and the acquiring of knowledge that set future paths. These stories transcended the ages and inspired those at the event who are yet to attend Otago.
The Chancellor, Dr Royden Somerville QC spoke about the history of the University, where it is now, and plans for the future, noting the important contribution alumni have made to maintain the reputation of the University across the world.
Photos were taken, plans for future meetings were made, and in a place over 12,000km away from Dunedin the Otago spirit was rekindled and celebrated.
