The Department runs high quality, relevant, and evidence based workshops taught by experienced clinicians and researchers from around the world.
The workshops are aimed at health professionals who wish to learn about new techniques in the field of clinical anatomy and trainee professionals looking to specialise.
The workshops include lectures, tutorials, integrative discussions and expert-guided training of the respective approaches with human cadavers. Prosections and plastinates are available throughout the workshops.
As well as gaining essential new skills and keeping professionals up to date with current research, the workshops also give participants the opportunity to meet world-class researchers with a passion for education, and other equally dedicated colleagues from around New Zealand and the world.

The Department also runs workshops in response to specific needs from the health professional community.
Examples from the past include:
1) Upper Limb Spasticity Management Workshop (March 10, 2016)
This was run for clinicians from the Southern District Health Board (ISIS centre) in collaboration with a rehabilitation physician from St George Hospital, Sydney. Following an overview of upper limb anatomy and anatomical landmarks used for Botox injection for treatment of upper limb spasticity, we spent some time reviewing clinically-relevant anatomy on prosections, models and E12 slices. Two embalmed cadaver upper limbs were then used for the purpose of defining landmarks and practising injection techniques (with agar-thickened ink), with placement of injectate confirmed with dissection. The afternoon was clinically-focused and spent at the ISIS rehabilitation ward assessing and treating patients
2) Podiatry New Zealand Anatomy Masterclass (November 2014)
Two 3 hour workshops were run as part of the Podiatry New Zealand conference, 13-15 November 2014. The purpose of the workshops were to examine and revise the clinically relevant anatomy of the leg and foot (from the knee joint distally) using a variety of resources including lower limb prosections, plastinated specimens/slices, bones and models.
