The Brain Health Research Centre is holding an artwork competition in connection with our 2018 theme “Your Brain is the Boss of Your Body”.

Your brain is the boss of your body. It runs the show and controls just about everything you do, even when you're asleep. Not bad for something that looks like a big, wrinkly, pink sponge!

This artwork competition asks young people to imagine what being the boss of your body might look like. They are welcome to interpret this as scientifically or artistically as they wish.

Any person aged 10-18 is eligible to enter - we have added a new category for younger children due to interest.

Last year our senior winner was from Columba College in Dunedin, and our junior winner was from Northern Southland College in Lumsden. We loved the artwork so much we created a free postcard using it! You can down load the entry form here, or from our stand at the University of Otago Science Expo on Saturday and Sunday 7-8 July.

Artwork can be either physical and posted to Brain Health Research Centre, PO Box 56, University of Otago, Dunedin. Or it can be digital (or physical and then scanned/photographed) and sent to bhrc@otago.ac.nz.

Entries may be displayed (without contact information visible) on the BHRC's Facebook page and website. Winners will be announced on Friday 27 July. Each category winner will receive a $50 book voucher.

Art work must be submitted to the Brain Health Research Centre by 3pm Monday 23 July 2018.
