For the first time, BHRC will be taking part in the new Neurohub at the annual Fieldays festival at Mystery Creek, Hamilton, getting face-to-face with approximately 130,000 New Zealanders to spread the word of brain research and brain health.
The annual Fieldays agricultural event in Mystery Creek, Hamilton is set to take place 30 November–3 December and is expected to draw a huge crowd from across New Zealand's rural sector.
For several years, the wellbeing hub, powered by Mobile Health, has been a popular addition to the event with health organisations and services offering skin cancer spot checks, blood glucose tests, blood pressure tests, atrial fibrillation checks, smear tests, hearing checks, hepatitis C tests, and confidential mental health support.
This year, for the first time, a Neurohub has been developed for inclusion inside the health and wellbeing hub. Brain Health Research Centre is proud to be part of this hub alongside partners Aotearoa Brain Project, Centre for Brain Research and the Neurological Foundation.
BHRC will be bringing the giant inflatable brain for Fieldays visitors to interact with, as well as a host of fun activities for all age groups. The new BHRC outreach programme Positively Wired! will be present in a Fieldays-friendly form, with programme demonstrators Courteney Westlake, Celine Camon and several sets of electroencephalogram powered 'Cat Ears' all travelling up to the event.
