Brain week began on Friday the 11th of March with the New Zealand Premier of the Neurodome, and what a way to start! The planetarium show takes the viewer from the furthest stars all the way down and into the brain.
Over ten minutes the film uses a number of different medical imaging techniques to show the most accurate view of the skull, brain, and brain cells possible all while explaining how each image was captured. Never before has the spectacular intricacy of the brain been available for public viewing, and with such clear explanations of each piece of the brain as they appear and fit together to form a functioning and thinking whole.
We're very excited to have been able to share the Neurodome during Brain Week, and a special thanks must be given to the Otago Museum for making this possible.
The Neurodome project utilizes immersive display technology, including planetarium format and virtual reality, to create new ways for learning about the brain.
