This year BHRC researcher and Associate Professor Yiwen Zheng, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology received funding from the Neurological Foundation for a project that sets out to explore this curious, relatively common condition.

Thousands of people across the globe suffer with the condition more commonly known as a constant ‘ringing in the ears’ or ‘buzzing’.

We had a chat with Yiwen to discuss some facts about tinnitus prevalence in COVID-19 patients, young people and the aging population, as well as her research project that seeks to understand the mechanism in the brain that links emotion and the tinnitus sound.
