Dr Laura Gumy

laura gumyDr Gumy is a senior research fellow in the department of anatomy. Her work focuses on the microtubule cytoskeleton and microtubule-based vesicle transport in healthy and diseased/injured neurons. Her research relies on combining high-resolution live cell imaging and quantitative analysis of cytoskeletal and transport dynamics, using advance microscopic assays and tools to visualise and manipulate proteins within cells. She also uses different biochemical methods to characterise protein-protein interactions us, this is achieved using pull-down assays and mass spectrometry-based protein identification. Dr Gumy primarily employs neuronal cultures or non-neuronal cells to image live-tissue.
