Associate Professor Cakmak is an associate professor in the Department of Anatomy. His research focuses on the neuromodulation of internal organs and the brain structures to modulate their functions and blood flow. Associate Professor Cakmak investigates the effects of different frequencies of non-invasive electrostimulation on internal organs blood flow to increase and decrease the blood flow. He also focus on investigating novel non-invasive stimulation techniques to normalize the neuronal network functions and alleviate the symptoms of neurological diseases.
Ongoing research:
- Non-invasive external electrostimulator for Parkinson’s Disease (Clinical Trial)
- Non-invasive vestibular nerve stimulation and structural plasticity in cerebrum and cerebellum and its effects on cognitive abilities (collaboration with Harvard University and Singapore University Imagery Lab)
- Modulation of the blood flow in cerebral arteries
