Bill English visited the Otago Department of Biochemistry on Saturday morning as part of the launch of the new Genomics Aotearoa advanced genomics research initiative.

The Department's Professor Peter Dearden will lead Genomics Aotearoa, an alliance between the Universities of Otago, Auckland and Massey, Crown Research Institutes AgResearch, ESR, Landcare Research, and Plant and Food, and 32 associate organisations including researchers and end-users of genomics and bioinformatics.

The PM and his entourage were shown around the Department, and members of the Dearden lab talked to the Prime Minister about their research.
