HOS2017This week the Department of Biochemistry has been hosting the Biochemistry option of the Hands On @ Otago holiday programme for high school students.

The students have been having a great time cloning the lactate dehydrogenase enzyme gene from an antarctic fish into a bacterial expression vector, then purifying and analysing the resultant enzyme.

The nasty weather outside doesn't seem to have dampened their enthusiasm.
