On Tuesday afternoon, the School of Biomedical Sciences held its annual Awards & End of Year Celebration at the Hunter Centre.
Congratulations to the four Biochemistry staff recognised this year for their outstanding contributions to both the Department and the School:
Dr Tanya Major – Best emerging researcher
Prof Peter Dearden and Dr Andrew Cridge – Commercialisation Researcher Award
Tanis Godwin – Research Support Focused Contribution Award
And also to Dr Phil Wilcox (affiliate of the Biochemistry Department) – Kaupapa Māori Research Award
The celebration also doubled as a farewell to Professor Vernon Ward, who is stepping down as Dean of the School. Professor Paul Brunton, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Division of Health Sciences, thanked Vernon for all of his hard work, and Associate Dean of Health Sciences (Pacific), Associate Professor Fa'afetai Sopoaga, led a beautiful song in Samoan. We hope to find out who the new Dean of Biomedical Sciences is soon.
