Bioengineering is the application of physical, mathematical and engineering sciences to address problems in biology and medicine. Bioengineering graduates:
- are problem driven
- have tailored skills
- seek solutions to real world issues
- develop new products, processes and technologies
- are industry-ready.
The Applied Science programme also offers a postgraduate degree in bioengineering (Masters by thesis only). The programme engages with various industry partners to provide direct lines of communication between employers, prospective graduate employees and the University of Otago's teaching and research staff.
The Applied Science programme facilitates communication, ensures it meets real world needs and provides graduate employment and recruitment through:
- a joint University of Otago-industry advisory board
- opportunities for industry sponsored partnerships
- work placements
- research projects.
Please contact Dr Stephen Sowerby, Director of the Applied Science Programme, if you represent a company interested in becoming an industry partner.
