The Bioengineering Showcase in November on the Dunedin campus was a great success with almost 100 attendees, industry and MedTech sponsorship, and many varied sessions. With over 15 senior Otago researchers, early career stage researchers, and a panel discussion showcasing and celebrating 10 years of bioengineering at the University of Otago.
Support from Otago senior management was evident with Prof Richard Blaikie, DVC Research & Enterprise, opening the showcase and Prof Paul Brunton, PVC Health Sciences, chairing the senior researcher session. Invited international speaker – Prof Laura Poole-Warren from the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, University of New South Wales kicked off proceedings with an engaging keynote presentation.
Sponsorship from industry by Thermo Fisher and the MedTech CoRE supporting the showcase. And there were cash prizes for best early career stage presentation and best and runner up posters.
The showcase generated new branding material and video footage for future marketing of Bioengineering@Otago. The showcase was supported internally by the events and marketing team in Dunedin and Christchurch.
