Plants are vital to the health of our planet and human well-being. They are fundamental to life, producing the oxygen we breathe, providing the food we eat and the clothes we wear. Here at the Department of Botany we teach and research the life of plants from the cellular level to the ecosystem.
We can help you find out more about plants and plant science. We are developing resources for schools, please check back as we will be adding resources in the future. You might want to try our FloraFinder App, which transforms you into an instant expert in identifying New Zealand native plants. We also work with Botanical Society of Otago who run regular field trips, workshops and social events.
