Otago students are full of innovative ideas and many of them have a desire to start their own business or launch a new product or service. These students value learning from experienced business people and entrepreneurs.
The Otago Business School has two main avenues for pursuing one’s entrepreneurial ambitions.
Audacious – For students who are curious about starting a business (now or in the future), or are already working on a business idea. Audacious is not just a business competition - it provides an environment that encourages like-minds to meet, mingle, motivate and inspire each other.
Master of Entrepreneurship (MEntr) - The Master of Entrepreneurship is a 15month programme designed to give students the knowledge, skills and confidence to develop a new venture. Students come from a variety of academic and industry backgrounds. The modular structure of the programme means that many students actually work full-time and are based all around New Zealand.
Startup Space - The Startup Space offers the community a place to work on startup ideas, meet like-minds, seek advice and collaborate. The Space welcomes anyone working on a business idea, irrespective of age and study-status. It is a hub for all things startup and provides a space for the business community to engage with the entrepreneurs of the future.
Support of the students can include:
• Formal and informal mentoring
• Guest speaking roles
• Workshops
• Judging of pitches/competitions
• Work Experience
• Angel Investment/Competition Prizes
• Simply having a chat with someone about their idea
