From 30 April until 4 May, the Department of Accountancy and Finance will host Inland Revenue's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Lara Ariell, as their first Executive in Residence for 2018.

During Lara's time with the department she will meet with staff and students, speak to classes, and present a guest lecture as part of the Otago Business School's Visiting Executive Programme (VEP) seminar series:
"Transforming Inland Revenue. Can the tax department really be customer centric, agile and intelligence led?"

Biography

Lara joined Inland Revenue in April 2016, initially on a 12 month secondment. Before joining Inland Revenue Lara was the Deputy Chief Executive - Finance at the Tertiary Education Commission.

She has worked for the Ministry of Justice, initially as the CFO and then as General Manager Performance and Improvement, Courts and Tribunals. She also spent time as the CFO at Te Papa, and working in planning and finance teams across the public sector. She started her career working in receivership and insolvency with accountancy firm Price Waterhouse and then McCallum Petterson and Co.
