Ivan Diaz-RaineyThe Department is thrilled to be involved with GRASFI - a new network of 18 global research universities established to promote multi-disciplinary academic research in the emerging field of sustainable finance and investment. The alliance is run by an organising committee consisting of representatives from each member University.

Associate Professor Ivan Diaz-Rainey is spearheading Otago’s involvement, and already has significant insight into this increasingly important area of research. In the coming weeks an Otago-based blog will launch which in due course will promote Otago’s contributions to GRASFI, and the wider research focus.

High-quality, rigorous academic research can inform necessary developments in the theory and practice of sustainable finance and investment. Doing so will help align the financial system with global environmental sustainability, a necessary condition for implementation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The alliance consists of the following universities:

  • University of California, Berkeley
  • University of Cambridge
  • Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE)
  • Columbia University
  • Frankfurt School of Finance and Management
  • University of Hamburg
  • Imperial College London
  • London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
  • Maastricht University
  • University of Otago
  • University of Oxford
  • Stanford University
  • Stockholm School of Economics
  • University of Toronto
  • Tsinghua University
  • University College London
  • Yale University
  • University of Zurich
