CARE Network Email List Ethical Statement as of 30 June 2020
CARE has developed an ethical policy regarding the use of the CARE Network email distribution list. This is aligned with the University of Otago email policy (particularly clauses (e) and (f)).

What is the CARE network email list?
The CARE Network email list contains the email addresses of people who belong to the CARE network.
How do email addresses get added to the list?
In order to subscribe to the CARE Network list, an individual must request that they be added to the CARE Network. We will not add names to the list without permission. Requests for membership and subscription to the CARE Network should be emailed to care@otago.ac.nz.
What is the CARE Network list to be used for?
The Care Network list is the primary means by which CARE Research Theme communicates with the members of its network. CARE will use the list to distribute information regarding CARE business to members of the network. This includes information about forthcoming seminars and events, newsletters, opportunities for funding. It may include requests for feedback and information from members of the network. CARE is occasionally asked to distribute material through its network for other organisations and Research Themes. Where such material is judged by the Director of CARE to be relevant to its network, it will be sent to the list. This might include information about events and opportunities external to CARE.
Privacy
The list is for CARE use only and CARE will not distribute or sell the list to other organisations. It will not be used for commercial purposes. It will not be used for spamming, letter-bombing, or to forward chain email. While we cannot guarantee that the CARE Network email list will not be hacked, we will not knowingly compromise members’ privacy.
How to unsubscribe?
You can unsubscribe from the CARE list at any time by emailing care@otago.ac.nz and requesting to be removed from the email list.
Revision of the policy
This policy will be reviewed every second year: the next review date will be June 2022.
