Do your research!

Before applying to Carrington, please have a good look around our website. It’s not easy to decide which College to select, but please be assured that every single College at the University of Otago will provide you with an incredible first year experience.

If you’re able to visit Dunedin, we’d love for you to drop in and see us. This gives us the opportunity to show you around and, most importantly, to meet you!

Tours of Carrington

We are enthusiastic about meeting prospective residents and showing off our wonderful College! On a tour of Carrington you will get to see a range of facilities and learn about the robust support, events and activities we offer. Our staff are very happy to answer any questions you may have!
Tours can be arranged by phoning (03 479 5533) or emailing (carrington-college@otago.ac.nz) Reception.

To ensure the best opportunity to experience our College, please schedule your tour in advance. With a small staff team, we are not always able to facilitate tours for 'walk-in' visitors. Please note that tours are not available in February or during exam periods.

Application form

If you’ve finished researching all of Otago's excellent Colleges and want to apply for accommodation, you can do so online through the University of Otago Student Accommodation Centre. Please be advised that we receive significantly more applications than we have places for each year.

When to apply

Applications for full year accommodation at Carrington College open on 1 August each year. Please pay close attention to all deadlines and requirements to ensure your application receives full consideration.

Process

Once completed, the Student Accommodation Centre will forward your application to Carrington. Please note – a balanced community is a healthy community! We are keen to embrace students studying a broad range of subjects from around Aotearoa New Zealand and the world! We do limit the number of offers we extend to applicants from individual schools and institutions, because we want you to come and meet new people and have new experiences. (Trust us – it’s a great thing to have your mates from school spread out across many Colleges!)

The Tautaiki (Warden) of College will notify successful applicants in October.
