Rooms and Facilities

Panoramic view of Stuart House

At Carrington we believe that providing the best environment to achieve academic success for our residents begins with providing the best facilities possible. Carrington College is a home away from home blessed with high quality facilities and services, geared up for student needs and comfort.

Stuart HouseCarrington College is made up of a collection of high-quality houses and villas set in a woodland setting. There are 238 single rooms and 2 shared rooms. The shared rooms are a good option for people who want to share with a friend (please note we do not allow mixed-sex shared rooms) or for those looking for a less expensive option.

The buildings at Carrington are all have a significant meaning. Our house names are; Wardell, Linton, Mahuru, Pine, Dawson, Jenkins, Tiro Moana, Blackie and Stuart.

The rooms at Carrington are generally equipped with bed, study desk, work chair, easy chair, built-in wardrobe and study lamp. They are cleaned weekly by the house cleaner (a little like a house Mum!) and you are welcome to personalise your bedroom with posters and decorations (using whitetack).

All bedding is supplied, and our laundry service allows you to exchange your used sheets and pillowcases for clean ones on a weekly basis.

Shared laundry facilities are available in all residential buildings at no extra cost to residents.

Communal lounges and kitchenettes

Most floors/houses have their own communal lounge/kitchenette area which residents are encouraged to use.

Dining Room and Al Fresco Area

Outside of meal times, this space serves as a key communal area for wireless access, small study groups, a chance to check social net-working sites and skype, a read of the daily newspaper or just to chat over a hot drink. It is a vital facility with its ‘Juliet Balcony’ for notices and larger gatherings such as quiz and movie nights, inter-College debates and competitions and other CCSA events.

It has been referred to as the HEART of the College.
