Caroline Orchiston is the Science Leader for Project AF8, a multi-agency initiative funded by the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management.
The project goal is to improve the South Island's collective response capability to deal with a future magnitude 8 earthquake.
In her talk Dr Orchiston will outline the science behind the Alpine Fault, progress of Project AF8 so far and describe some of the key issues that will be most relevant for Dunedin in the event of an Alpine Fault earthquake.
