Lucia Danzi (160)Lucia is a PhD candidate co-supervised between the Centre for Sustainability and the Department of Tourism. As part of the Resilience to Nature's Challenges (RNC) Programme and QuakeCoRE, she is looking at ways to increase natural hazard resilience in rural communities in New Zealand and help the tourism sector to be better prepare for future events. Her research interests address sustainable development, social networks, and disaster management in tourist areas.

Research

Co-creation approach for enhancing rural disaster resilience through tourism

Lucia's research aims to develop a co-creation approach for enhancing rural disaster resilience through tourism, which will help to understand how the tourism sector and emergency management can work more effectively in New Zealand. The project is funded by Resilience to Nature's Challenges and is embedded in the Rural research programme aimed to improve New Zealand's resilience to natural hazards, with the focus on the tourism sector.
