Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Research interests
Evie is interested in the genetics of heart disease, and is currently working to develop new tools to identify patients who will go on to have adverse cardiac remodelling or atrial fibrillation following a heart attack. This research involves identifying new genetic risk markers, and using these to build genetic risk scores and identify the pathways which promote these adverse outcomes.
Background
Evie completed her PhD (2021) with the Christchurch Heart Institute at the University of Otago, Christchurch. Her PhD focussed on identifying circulating microRNA and protein biomarkers of Acute Kidney Injury in patients with heart failure, and involved utilising SWATH Mass Spectrometry and large-scale RTqPCR.
