Research Interests

  • Analysis of the metallic element isotope systems using multiple-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS) with applications in geochemistry, environmental chemistry, paleoclimatology and cosmochemistry (see the Centre for Trace Element Analysis website for further information)
  • The reconstruction of past sea-levels using the high-precision U-series dating of fossil coral reefs and implications for the mechanisms driving past and present climate change
  • “Stable” isotope fractionation of uranium with applications in sequencing the early Solar System and the biogeochemical cycling of uranium in low-temperature aquatic environments
  • Stable isotope fractionation of trace metals in the ocean, including cadmium and iron, to determine their role in modulating the oceans’ biological pump and the global CO2 cycle
  • The reconstruction of past sea-levels using the high-precision U-series dating of fossil coral reefs and implications for the mechanisms driving past and present climate change
